The Oasis Burnt Down this morning

Yes, you read that correctly. Apparently one of the storms rolling through town early this morning produced a bolt of lightning that struck one of the wooden decks and it spread quickly.

When I overheard the news this morning, I assumed that the Gallagher brothers had finally taken each other out in a final blaze of rock n’ roll glory. Come to find it’s just another Austin landmark meeting a firey end.

It sounds like the owner is going to rebuild, so future UT students will always have someplace to entertain out of town guests, far far away from their decrepid apartment. Maybe this time the Oasis will build a kitchen that serves something other than deep-fried ass.

I noticed the smoke on the way into work this morning.

I think I’ve been to that place a grand total of 1 time in the 16 years I’ve lived here. The deck appears to have expanded quite a bit. I’m sure they’ll rebuild and I’ll continue to not go there.

The food did suck ass the one time I went. I suppose the view is worth it except for everything else you have to endure while trying to enjoy it.
