Before all, there was Anderson Coffee. And there still is. Anderson’s has always supplied the house blend at Sweetish Hill. And then came Ruta Maya, first downtown and now at the fabulous Penn Field.

The current house blend at home relies on a foundation of Ruta Maya Colombian beans, to which are added a mystery blend of beans from Fong Da of Taipei, a welcome and regularly forthcoming gift (the English on the bag says “We relish coffee” and “Favorite time for you”).

Ruta Maya comes from Fresh Plus, Albertsons, Whip In, or Ruta Maya world headquarters itself. This weekend, the Ruta Maya bus was at the Congress Avenue H-E-B. Will Ruta Maya beans soon be on the shelves? Or are they there already, in some location not noticed? Or was the driver just on an emergency supply run for Ruta Maya World Headquarters?
