Kinky for Gov Campaign Amasses Funds In Unusual Ways

According to Harvey Kronberg’s Quorum Report, Texas gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman hit the jackpot last weekend at Harrah’s in New Orleans to the tune of $45,612. Today, Kinky reportedly deposited $40,000 into his campaign warchest.

Kinky’s next fundraising event will be a golf outing at Willie Nelson’s private course in Luck, Texas. 20 golfers who pay $5,000 each will get their chance to golf with Willie Nelson and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, in addition to catching a lunch performance by Texas icon Billy Joe Shaver. Not appearing will be Governor Rick Perry’s bosom buddy, Ted Nugent (though I’m sure a private hunting trip may possibly in the cards for the upcoming campaign).

That’s really cool about the golf tournament. We own two lots in Briarcliff (where the golf course is located) right across the street from the 5th fairway. Think it might be a fun day to go check on the property.
