Austin to Walgreen’s: Fill the Prescription

The city of Austin headed off what has sparked controversy in several states. Pharmacists refusing to fill prescriptions they have a moral objection to dispensing are now required to do so in the City of Austin. I first heard about this issue when a pharmacist near Dallas refused to fill a woman’s birth control prescription and then again when I read pharmacists had refused to fill prescriptions for the ‘emergency contraception’ pill.

This is a bold move and I’m glad Austin is the first city to tell pharmacists they have a job to do and they should do it.
