Local on-air stalwart goes to Internet broadcast

The Reverend Frank Garrett, Jr., heard for years on the weekday 88.7 KAZI-fm radio Wakeup Call and, along with Tommy Wyatt of The Villager and Akwasi Evans of NOKOA – The Observer, on Friday’s Breakfast Club, has broadened his family of listeners.

After an absence from the airwaves of some weeks’ duration, he returned last week to KAZI. In the meantime, he has embarked upon a new venture: a two-hour internet show on weekday afternoons that goes from his home studio out over the Internet via Meeker Broadcast Radio.

The KAZI shows often incorporate listeners’ calls and cover local subjects more than national and international ones, for the most part. Guests on the Wakeup Call tend to be local community and political figures. The Frank Garrett Show treats more national and international political and social subjects; it streams live and is also available in archived form. It’s billed as “your independent voice in a partisan jungle.”
