· Maps, maps, maps: Yahoo Maps launched yesterday and with it comes a whole slew of fun apps, including these Upcoming.org events maps, this local events browser. The previous map king Google Maps has a cool fast food map and traffic map.

· But due to previously high gas prices, Austin cab rates are going up by 10 cents.

· Poster and art fans, this is your weekend. APESTOCK is happening November 5 and 6, 11:00am to 6:00pm at Obsolete Industries (2207 E. 5th Street). Poster artists are teaming up with a few other creative types to have an art sale along with food, beer and music.

· A Kinky Friedman reality show pilot about his gubernatorial campaign will air on CMT next week.
