When it’s sixty on the Shiner
That’s the Shiner Beer thermometer indoors saying sixty and when it’s twenty-three outdoors, sixty feels warm and cozy. Indoors certainly looks festive, carpeted in all the many pots of red geraniums in heavy bloom that were brought in from the cold last night. It’s impossible to look at the plants left outdoors, covered in sheets, towels, and blankets fixed in place with tent pegs in the ground or with clothespins on fences. These tents of fabric are completely rigid this morning, entirely encased in ice.
