New York City, Here We Come!

JetBlue just started their non-stop flights to NYC and Boston today from AIB with special fares of $79 one-way to both cities. Offer good through January 26 for travel through February 28. Sweet! No more Houston or Dallas layovers! I feel a weekend trip coming up soon.

It’s cool that JetBlue is flying out of ABIA. If you’ve never flown them before, it’s an experience. Everything about them is blue: the names of the planes; the outfits of the cabin crew; even the inflight snacks they give you are blue. They’re kind of like Southwest with more perks (for instance, all of their seats have TVs installed). Now if only they could start flying non-stops to Long Beach and Oakland.

The real test will be the regional jets they’re using (new model from Embraer, according to what I read). Will they be absolute disasters like the one I flew from Austin to Cleveland and on to Dulles, where I couldn’t even unfold my laptop far enough to read the screen (I’m 5’9″)? They claim not, but I’m dubious.

(Why, oh why, couldn’t they have stuck with just more of their existing planes?)
