Short Snippets

· Product Shop NYC reports The Strokes are going to be playing SXSW this year (maybe also at that warehouse party Charles Attal throws every year in east Austin?).

· Bold (or perhaps not) prediction: this may be the year that day parties overtake the night showcases (much to the chagrin of SXSW promoters). Showlist Austin already lists a few day parties. And as usual, the unofficial SXSW list will be trading party gossip.

· There is a SXSW bands MySpace page. Let’s also not forget the official SXSW MySpace page.

· Indiewire features a short essay Richard Linklater wrote for the 20 year anniversary of the Austin Film Society (from the AFS 20 Year Retrospective book).

· Ramesh from Voxtrot muses on Austin’s music scene eclecticism: “The world is shrinking and Austin is shrinking. Trail of Dead are playing alongside country rockers and twee pop bands, and the same people are equally willing to pay money to see 1990’s grunge ressurection or 1960’s Supreme’s-esque girl groups.”
