Would his friends still recognize him?

A brave Austinite sought advice from an “image consultant” right here in Austin and joined four testers from elsewhere in our great nation in having his experience described. If I know anybody who has consulted an image consultant that person has not been brave enough to say so. It’s a revelation to know that there are such people here in Austin.

In today’s WSJ (page D4, reported by Paola Singer), What Image Consultants Really Advise You follows an Austinite described as being a guy aged 35 recently laid off from a media company. “Media company” could be a lot of things. In any event, Sara Canaday (a “certified image consultant” certified by whatever outfit certifies such things) of Empowerment Enterprises gave the tester a book “on exuding authority and style.” I’d like to know the name of that book. Sometimes it seems that Austin mortals pretty much exude sweat and that’s about it. I’d like to more about those “power colors,” too.

Image consultants were also tested in New York (two), Los Angeles, and Miami. The Austin experience seems to have been the best one. But what’s that book?
