Kevin Russell of the Gourds told the group’s mailing list (called Cucurbitaceae) Wednesday that the group’s finally been added to the roster for the next season of Austin City Limits. Following a Michael Corcoran career overview article on the band this January, members of the mailing list began a letter writing campaign to both the Statesman and the Austin Chronicle asking the show’s producers when the group would be added to the show. Now their wishes have been granted.

Who are the other bands added to the ACL roster? Based on the past couple seasons, I’ll predict one British buzz band, one rootsy favorite, one jam band, one country twanger, a blues belter, an up and coming Austin band, a bonafide legend, and an indie rock sensation.

In other ACL news, the city and developer Stratus Properties hope to move KLRU’s crown jewel to the proposed Block 21 development beside City Hall near Town Lake.
