ACL 2006 Pre-Sale – Last one to know

Some people got the e-mail earlier today about the $35 Austin City Limits Festival 2006 pre-sale. I didn’t get a damn thing and typically I get two e-mails from them, one to my GMail account and one to my work account. I got two copies of the notice in late February mentioning that the pre-sale was coming, but today? Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Don’t go running over there because they went through 3,000 tickets in 42 minutes. The comments on Austinist indicate not very many people got through. The pre-sale last year was impossible as well. I tried for about 20 minutes and never got far enough to actually order tickets. As of this moment, I still haven’t seen an e-mail from them. Damn.

I registered for the Cingular phone updates in the hopes that their SMS-fu is superior to their e-mail-fu. We’ll see.

Same for me. I still haven’t gotten an email.

The other thing that sucks is that though this is called the “Austin” City Limits Festival, people from Austin get jack. At least SXSW will only sell early wristbands to 512 area code people. CSE sells their presale to people from anywhere–if you’re lucky enough to get their email.

i wouldn’t feel too bad — even with the stupid email heads-up i stil couldn’t get through their servers! i guess 3000 tickets at 2/person and spread out around the country means, uhh, something like thirty tickets a city.

I got the e-mail, but was too caught up in contact troubles to check it in time and had to rush to class. Darn :(

Allen, I suppose I shouldn’t be so bitchy — I guess it’s a crap shoot. My other complaint is about their lousy servers. The same logjam happens every year, and they never fix it. But I’m in a grouchy mood anyway.

*yaaawwn* … just woke up to find my email alert, only about 14 hours too late. At least I didn’t suffer through the server tease I got last year. Back to hibernation …

After the dust and heat last year, I’m still not sure I’m even going.

As I mentioned in the original post, I’m signed up on two e-mail accounts. Arrival time at work? 10:20PM. Arrival time at GMail? 10:34PM.

I’m not sure exactly when they opened up the pre-sale, but I’m guessing it was 3 or 3:30. I got my notice roughly 7 hours after that. Nice job, ACL Fest. Of course, you sold your 3,000 tickets in less than an hour anyway, so why should you give a shit? How about spending some of those profits on a few servers that can handle the load?
