That’s one way to strip the ball moss from the oak trees

We were up early and filled five lawn-and-leaf sacks with the stuff and swept the rest into heaps for packaging later. Our screen tent was somewhat skewed but withstood the storm. We had it all: slamming winds, toppled trees, nearby lightning strikes, hailstones, roof leaks, and power outages. This was not a storm that stood overhead forever, thank goodness, but the atmosphere was pure water so that it wasn’t even possible to see across the street. Front steps were covered with cascades so that they looked like waterfalls. This hasn’t been seen since the rains that caused the famous Memorial Day floods. The weather could have been worse, but it was bad enough to be no fun.
