Under the big top

circo.jpgCirco Hermanos Vazquez inaugurates its five-day run tomorrow with two evening shows. When this circus first played in Austin, it was under canvas; then it moved from South Pleasant Valley Road up to the new Crockett Center, having acquired a fancy new-style tent. Now, it’s back south, at 515 South Pleasant Valley. Shows are at 6 and at 8:30 pm on weeknights through Tuesday, July 18, with a 3 pm matinee added to the schedule on Saturday and Sunday. This is quite an intimate one-ring circus. There’s usually someone circulating with a digital camera to take photographs of children with some of the principals in the show. If the past is any guide, most of the seats will be bleachers, but there’s a cushion-renting concession, and there will be more comfortable seating at ringside. Toll-free information is available by calling 1-877-829-7839 (1-877-VAZQUEZ).
