So I currently live in North Campus (though I’ve made a big deal here about moving to South Austin) and though I LOVE this area, my place can only be described as a Student Slum. I didn’t have A/C for three months from August to November, my tub’s been resurfaced three times, I might as well be showering under a faucet, my sink took all night to drain until they shoved 40 feet of auger through it, etc. It sucks. But every year they fill the places up! So it’s not like they HAVE to fix anything, really, because SOMEONE will live there. Ugh. I wish I could put up a sign saying “RUN AWAYYY!!!!” in my window where people touring the complex could see it. There’s probably some sort of rule against that though…

Any apartment horror stories out there? No names, we don’t want any lawsuits on our hands :o)

You should post to apartment message boards and craigslist. It is unacceptable for landlords to really let their places go like that.

I feel ya. I’m just getting out of one of the student slum places myself to move to South Austin.
