Get Yer Protest On

I sometimes spend quality time with my friends lamenting the current state of our country and our generation’s war (ie, Iraq), but rare is the opportunity for me to feel like I’ve made a difference, that my small voice can create change. It’s easy to feel disempowered and apathetic these days, but I’ll have to put that off until another night. Tonight, Austin is joining more than 150 cities across the country to protest the Bush administration. Long regarded as the speck of blue in a sea of red, Austin is the perfect place to get involved and feel empowered. Besides, what’s can be more Austin-y than a good old fashioned protest? There will even be that Austin staple, live music, brought to you by Funk Shui. The gathering begins at 4:30 this afternoon at the Capitol.
