This time to drop; next time to shop?

goodwill.jpgIn the past, obsolescent and useless computer-related items have gone to Axcess. Now, with the City and Dell contracts with Goodwill under “Project Reconnect Austin,” there’s always a close place. In the past, useful items had gone directly to the Goodwill computer store. Now, I’m told, they may be dropped at any Goodwill location and will be taken to the Computerworks store for evaluation of what’s useful and disposal of what’s not. The hours are very convenient, seven days a week. This was yesterday, at the South Lamar location. It was taking as many as a dozen people, conferring in Spanish and in English, to hoist this just-bought upright piano into the pickup. With my toy camera, it’s always a miracle if there’s any congruence between what the viewfinder shows and what image is actually captured, so not everybody lifting is shown. Now I really hope to have time sometime soon to explore just what’s being sold inside that expansive building. All I really saw was the piano team and the helpful people at the drop-off window.
