New lessons for inclemency

According to the authorities, one shouldn’t wear high-heeled shoes when it’s icy. I saw this tip at the very top of a list of safety instructions on at least two local television stations. And if your electric power goes off, it may be that power was deliberately cut by Austin Energy so that trees could be chopped to prevent power from going off. This may not be what’s intended to be conveyed, but that’s what some people think is being said. At any rate, the City’s electric utility is trying to keep people informed via frequent updates to a Web page called “outage events.”
