Two kinds of table

An entertaining look at dining out in Austin is to be found in today’s NYT magazine; the author consults regulars at the Austin Table Tennis Club about their preferences when they sit down at the table to dine on favorites from various Asian cuisines: “The Hot Table,” by Paula Disbrowe, a neighbor. Local establishments in for a mention include Tam Deli, Asia Cafe, and Din Ho, which is always busy. it seems, so busy that, not being willing to wait, I haven’t enjoyed the pleasure of dining there for a very, very long time.. Saigon Kitchen is not mentioned in the body of the article, the there’s a recipe adapted from its menu. One of the Austinites mentioned, described as “a 46-year-old appliance repairman,” is very often recommended on neighborhood listservs around town.
