S 1st Bridge crossing, Town Lake trail access – Redux

Since metroblogs isn’t a magazine or newspaper, we are not limited to publishing something and then forgetting about it ;-)

and so it was I got back from my trip, and the first thing I noticed was access to S 1st Street Bridge crossing on the west side was still closed. Also access to the trail from the north of the bridge was still suspended. I called City project Manager Rick Colbrunn, who promptly called me back and explained they are having problems “sourcing material” for the retaining walls, and the project probably won’t be complete until the end of July 2008.

So, unlike people wanting to access the trail, this one continues to, err, run! I’ve updated my original “But my training plan says to do loops!” post, and this one is for those who use the RSS feed.

I’d like to see it … or at least this training camp, which I guess must be somewhere nearby? Right now I’m looking through the maps at this Bergstrom newsstand. My God, the heat. Since the beginning this relationship keeps returning to the weakest aspects of my personality: 1) an inability to deal with the weather, 2)honesty. On this second point, as she has pointed out time and again, the record speaks for itself. Since the heat is inescapable I may as well admit certain truths as well. For example, I am not a Lance Armstrong type and I could never live up to that though this, I suppose, must be her ideal. Oh sure, she has, many times, laughed that off saying, No one expects you to. But deep down, under that look of congeniality, there’s a standard that’s been set, isn’t there? Then again, if I think about it, this mode of self-evaluation isn’t the kind of exercise will help me navigate the lostempyre, convince her when the time comes, or deal with car rental agents. I can only imagine the annoying questions they’re about to ask. But I’ll tell them I’m here on business which, in a certain sense is true. I mean you can’t say to just anyone you’re in town because you’ve lost your girlfriend. They’ll think you’re a weirdo.
