Oh joy…The Real World comes to Austin.

First off, my apoligies for being absent on the boards recently. I had a bout with some nasty virus that had me laid out for a while. That and trying to get caught up at work has left me little to blog away.

At any rate, according to the Statesman, MTV’s The Real World is set to come to Austin. I guess for some this is a good thing. I suppose the cast and crew will spend some money here, and Austin will be showcased as a good place to live. But in reality, I’m not all that thrilled with this announcement. I suppose it might be better to say I’m ambivalent, but I can’t work up any excitement.

What say the rest of you? Good? Bad? Eh?

Meh. I guess I’m too old for that show. Lately, the people on it seem very whiny and annoying. I watched the first few seasons pretty religiously though.

I don’t think we particularly need the publicity. Perhaps we should hold a contest to see who can be the first Austin Metblogger to figure out the location of the house?

Not having cable and having few friends who have a television at all, I’ve never seen this show. Since hearing the news, I’ve been looking out for casting calls, but have seen none. It would be very interesting to know the location. In the most recent edition of the Rumbo tabloid, Will Wynn is quoted (in Spanish) as saying that he knows where it will be but that he has sworn not to reveal the secret.

I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure that the casting will already have been completed.

Does a city really exist until it’s featured on an MTV reality soap opera?

They’ve started filming. The house is at 3rd and San Jacinto. Those that are interested in gossiping about it can go here.

I guess we exist now. They’re currently filming. The house is at 3rd and San Jacinto. My friend, Andy, has a post about his thoughts on their arrival.
