“I love a parade”
So goes the song, and I concur. Last year’s Texas Independence Day parade was cancelled at the last minute over a dispute concerning permits. You may already have heard the volley of shots over at the state cemetery on the day itself, March 2. There’s no listing of the order of march. If we’re lucky there will be at least one sharp band. Congress Avenue was designed as a route for processions and parades, and it’s too bad ever to miss one. This one will form up across the river and march north toward the capitol at about 11:00 am. Well fortified by hot cross buns from Sweetish Hill, our contingent will step right along with it, and maybe we’ll be lucky and be given a souvenir Texas state flag to add to the collection of flags from other parades.
