Mystery Photo Contest #1
So, I thought I’d try out a new game here on the Austin Metblog. It’s already being done on a somewhat regular basis in LA and Houston. The idea is that I post a photo of some location in Austin and you try and guess where it is. The first one to correctly identify the location in the comments wins a prize. I’m not sure what the prize is yet, but I’ll figure something out. I’ll let the contest go until Monday, at which point, hopefully I’ll have found something to give away. If nobody guesses it by Friday, I’ll add a hint. All you other Austin Metbloggers keep quiet. Let’s let our vast readership have a chance first.
Hint 1: It’s downtown (north of 1st, but south of 12th).
UT Art Building?
Nope.
2nd street loft?
Closer than the first guess, but no.
St. David’s hospital?
new city hall building.
All good guesses, but no. Here’s the first hint: it’s downtown (north of 1st street, but south of 12th street).
the old state comptroller’s offices downtown, now vacated
I think you might be right, but can you give me the block (ie street it’s on, which side of the street and which two streets it’s between)? I’m going by location and confess that I’m not exactly sure what’s in the building myself.
On the southeast corner of its intersection (Fifth & Colorado? Between Congress and Colorado. Abraham’s Shoe Repair used to be on the north side of the street, sort of across from part of the depicted building)
I think that’s it. It’s actually on Sixth between Congress and Colorado on the south side of the street. The Scarborough building is on the east half of the block and this building takes up the rest of the block to Colorado. Let me track down a prize. I’ll do another one of these in a week.
No prize needed or expected; save it for the next time.
