ACL Festival Scalpers…er Entrepreneurs Cash In On Sell Out

With the announcement that 3-day passes to the ACL Festival sold out, the inevitable overpriced aftermarket has opened up on Craigslist. Passes that had been selling for $105 are now going for anywhere from $150 to $225 ($450 for a pair), as well as one bidder who bought his souvenir pass for $35 now offering it up for “cold, hard CASH ONLY to whoever offers me the most money by this Friday (8/5) at 5:00 p.m.” (will this transaction being taking place in a back alley?). After a Craiglist post chastised the scalpers for “riping (sic) people off” because three one-day tickets are still available for $150, a scalping sympathist justified the high prices because people can come and go as they please. With eBay feeding the frenzy as well, we can only imagine what people will be paying in the coming weeks. If they reach the $600 range, interested parties might want to spring instead for the $2500 Friends of the Festival VIP package.
