Things to do in Austin other than the ACL Festival

If the ACL Festival isn’t your thing this weekend, there’s still plenty to do in Austin. There’s a play that opens this weekend at a new little theatre on the East Side. Arts on Real presents End of the World Party. A play about seven bitchy homos on Fire Island (D’er) at the end of the world. Dan Renzi‘s in it, apparently drinking a lot of Skyy Vodka. The show opens September 22 and runs through October 29.

And Saturday, the Austin Civic Orchestra opens their season. The orchestra will perform the final movements of Beethoven’s 7th and Dvorak’s 9th Symphonies and highlights from Pirates of the Caribbean. Following the performance Intermezzo (Friends of the Orchestra) will host a dessert and coffee reception to allow the audience and orchestra to mingle.
