I love a new development!

The Statesman today reports on apartment conglomerate, The Gables, proposing an amazing addition to the west of downtown. This dead area is in great need of some revitalization and the new pedestrian paths and re-routing of the God awful Sandra Muraida Way will be a welcome relief. If I could call The Gables and tell them to start this project tomorrow, I would. Urban development rocks my world, in case you can’t tell.

I’m looking forward to something happening in this spot especially if part of the deal is to finish the pedestrian bridge. I walk to Whole Foods from across the river and this section is the worst part of the walk.

I know we have to compromise on height, but I hope that the look fits in with the style of the new Whole Foods and the new City Hall and is not just ugly cement blocks or tall glass towers.
