The thirteenth year is a lucky one for the annual Thornton Road Studios art show and sale. This low-key Austin holiday-season tradition allows many to check off every single item on the shopping list. Thornton Road is between the railroad tracks and the South Lamar Office Depot. Those who don’t get there tomorrow (when it’s open from 5 to 10 pm) or Saturday (from 11 am to 5 pm) will miss it all and must wait until year fourteen. On Saturday, there will be a program of demonstrations. Many of these artists sell their work nationally. I’m always just a tagalong shopper, but have never failed to find this to be a very convivial event. Going by past years, shoppers should expect local food and local music.
