Racing against time, to musical accompaniment
“Shopping” and “fun” don’t go together well in the same sentence for many, especially not the procrastinating portion of the shopping population. Those whose near and dear include people expecting presents sometime along about December 25 and who wait until this week to step up to the plate most often head to the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, where there’s more fun than pressure and where it’s easy on the ears.
Sure, there’s a slight admission fee, but it’s worth it: tonight Rick Trevino, tomorrow Ray Wylie Hubbard, Thursday Albert and Gage, and Friday Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones.
And for those who observe the Austin shopping traditions, on Christmas Eve the Texana Dames play from 8:00 pm right up until the 11 pm closing. The Armadillo Bazaar during those hours on that night is guaranteed to be one of the most festive spots in town.
