The Super Bowl of Samba

Carnaval2006Small%20.JPGLike most of you, I can never seem to find the appropriate event to showcase my extensive wardrobe of glittery thongs and exotic masks. Except this weekend, of course, when Carnaval Brasileiro returns to Austin for the annual extravaganza of Rio-esque debauchery. Tickets are still available via the website, or in person at Half Price Books and a few other local establishments.

Even better is that the posters from all 29 years of the event are now on display at the South Austin Museum of Popular Culture (aka the place next to Planet K, aka the site of that new coffee trailer where I still have yet to find anyone actually serving coffee before 9am). So why not make it a S. Lamar-themed evening and check out the posters on your way to the video exhibition at Swerve?
