Third Fourth Time’s a Charm

Road ClosureI seem to recall during our last drought, lo those many weeks ago, there was some talk about how and why rain seems to miss Austin. I guess we can toss that discussion out the window now that we’ve had lightning storms four nights in a row, with a slight chance for more this evening. The good news is that Austin actually has a rain surplus for the first time in quite awhile. The bad news is that several hundred homes are still without power around Tarrytown and Clarkesville, which means a sizable number of chilled wines are in grave danger of warming to room temperature. Damn you Austin Energy!

Note: the Statesman has an “after” photo of this felled tree near Flipnotics being cleared by Bicycle Sports Shop owner Hill Abell.

Wae, have you ever had the displeasure of drinking a Beaujolais at room temperature? Oh, the humanity!

At the peak of our Saturday outage, I did drink a Red Hook to save it from premature warming. We all have to make sacrifices when bad weather strikes, lest we become savages.
