Never having seen Amy Sedaris in anything including the television show, today I saw her and an army of comedic artists in Strangers with Candy. This is not at all cinematic and the lighting and makeup do no favors; it’s sketch comedy by seasoned live-performance pros and enriched with imaginative dance, costumes, and props. It’s evident right away that a real school is used as a set. I don’t think that knowing more would have made me laugh more. The audience cut across quite a range of ages. Pamplona, driver education, and the culmination of the science fair were laugh winners. Greg Hollimon has star power. So maybe I’m sorry not to be able to view cable TV shows. But, wait! It’s Vulcan Video to the rescue.
