Shoreline quick-lunch

shorline.jpgIt had been a long time between visits to the Shoreline Grill. That interval won’t be so long again. Chocolate intemperance is still the best, and the portion is very generous. Yes; this is the very same chocolate intemperance dessert that stars at Jeffrey’s. I like mine standalone. There were other beautiful and tempting desserts on the menu, but nobody could resist the intemperance, which everyone else took as offered, topped with creme anglaise. The crab cakes were superlative. I don’t even like crab cakes, as a rule, but I sampled these because the person who ordered them said that they were the best ever tasted. All fish and sea creatures arrived promptly and came to the table hot from the pan. The French fries here are delicious. The vegetables on my plate included green and yellow bush beans, two kinds of carrots, asparagus, and pattypan squash. Wi-fi is now available for those conducting business at the table, as some people were. The service was excellent, which has not always been true. The views are wonderful. The value is there. The dessert menu mentions sorbets, gelatos, and ice creams. Another time, I’d ask, but I just had to have the chocolate intemperance. We saw a lot of people ordering fried chicken, one of today’s specials. Acoustics improved as the crowd thinned. We were told that the Shoreline is open continuously through the afternoon on weekdays. The standing lunch menu has temptations for all, and each day there are specials as well. This is a happy rediscovery.
