For the Love of Amy’s
What do we mean when we say “Keep Austin Weird”? We want to be able to tell stories like when Amy’s Ice Cream Crosses Three Lanes of Traffic. Via Incandragon.

Ahhhh…Amy’s. My first exposure was the old store on the east side of Guadalupe at 34th during my freshman year at UT.
Dave from Bouffant Jellyfish worked there at the time. My friend Melissa introduced me to Mexican Vanilla with chocolate chip cookies crushed in. Good stuff. That’s still my favorite, but ya gotta love Shiner and Guinness flavors along with many of the other traditional favorites.
That location’s (and it’s new location slightly north and on the other side of the street) been doing the throw across Guadalupe for quite some time. And that traffic’s in both directions!
Our firstborn was practically made from Amy’s Ice Cream given the number of trips we made there during my wife’s pregnancy. I love that they opened a South Congress location (the one near Penn Field by St. Ed’s, not the one across from Jo’s).
