On the Prowl for Presents
Recently I was the guest of one of my very favorite people in the world- I spent a long weekend in North Carolina visiting him and generally chillaxin’. Since he was so kind and I had such a great time, I’m sending him a bunch of Austin-y gifts (he’s a UT alum).
So far I have:
-an Alamo Drafthouse shirt
-a bag of wasabi peas from Austinuts (those people are just lovely, really)
-a koozie from Waterloo Records (with the “go to hell” quote from Davy Crockett)
-a bag of candy corn (inside joke)
-a card
Things I still need:
-bag of coffee beans from JP’s Java
-some really good tea (NO CLUE where to buy tea, help!)
-some hookah tobacco from this place we used to go
Any other ideas? If you had to send someone Austin in a Box, what would you send?
There needs to be salsa and/or bbq sauce or rub in there. Salt Lick has a pretty good meat rub. I’m partial to the Jardine’s Chipotle for the store bought stuff. It’s made in Texas or maybe something from a local favorite Tex-Mex restaurant.
Yeah, I was going to grab a bottle of Stubb’s- I CRAVED it while I was in NYC and Carolina barbecue is a whole different animal. Vinegar, kids. Vinegar.
A small vial of water from Barton Springs.
A picture of Matthew McConaughey kissing Richard Linklater.
A lock of hair from Gerry Van King.
A $10 bottle of water from Whole Foods.
There is a place called Tea Embasy that is supposed to be great for teas.
