Another Night with Out-of-Towners
I had friends in town with nothing to do so, after my first dinner at Mother’s (delicious Peasant’s Meal, but Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse will offer you vegan cornbread too), we went to the Alamo’s screening of The Wall, which was part of theirs and High Times’ High For The Holidays series…and since I usually wish I could sleep through the holidays, I figured a beer and stoner flick might be the next best thing.
There really is nothing better than movies at the Alamo. You have your friends, tons of food, an excellent view of a huge screen, and no worries about staining your sofa. Before the movie they had a bong-making contest where some guy with a giant pink My Little Pony wiped the floor with his competition. Then the movie began, presented in deafening clarity and a gorgeous, visceral 35mm print. We were all sober and still sitting in rapt attention- all of us had seen part of the movie, but none of us had seen all of it. We got two beer buckets and, since it was also Music Monday, two free large popcorns, which the six of us shared. It was a lovely night.
