Put out more flags
That black-and-white banner with the cannon, the star, and “come and take it” as its legend is the Gonzalez flag. You can find it and the flags of most nations, along with the Jolly Roger and the Lone Star Flag of Texas, at the Hyde Park Grocery and Shell station in Hyde Park.
As you roam the aisles laid out like a maze, there’s no telling what will be found. This is the home of serendipity: beers, wines, cigars, sandwiches, tools, hardware, and much, much more.
If you don’t know what flag you’re seeking, just check out the book at the counter showing flags of all nations, make your selection, and wait for it to be brought from a back room to the counter.
There’s a decent selection of bandanas or work hankies, too, with some patterns not found at Slack’s Riverside or Wheatsville Co-op (several camouflage patterns and two different skull-and-crossbones designs, for example) Hyde Park Market is at the corner of 45th and Duval.
